In today’s world, trade is the fastest globalizing phenomenon. It now occupies a leading position in international relations. The globalization of foreign investments and national economies has made international trade an indispensable part of business life. Managers who aim to succeed must be aware of these changes and be prepared to work in a competitive and global environment. To this end, students are equipped with knowledge and skills through both theoretical and practical courses, enabling them to become qualified professionals in areas required by the business world.

The academic program of the Department of International Trade and Finance is structured around three main categories of courses: University compulsory courses (common courses), Department compulsory courses, and elective courses.

  • University compulsory courses consist of Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Reforms, as well as Turkish and English language courses, which must be taken by all departments.
  • Department compulsory courses include subjects such as international trade finance and legislation, transportation and logistics, and at the international level, courses in business administration, marketing, economics, logistics, and strategic management.
  • Elective courses are divided into three categories: those offered by the Common Courses Department, including sports, arts (music or fine arts), foreign languages, and other subjects; departmental electives aimed at different areas of specialization; and non-departmental electives offered by other departments and faculties, which students can choose in line with their curricula.

In addition, students are given the opportunity to gain real-life experience by engaging with the business world through assignments, projects, and a compulsory summer internship. Furthermore, alongside English as the medium of instruction in the Department, students are encouraged to choose either German or Russian as a compulsory second foreign language. This requirement aims to broaden their perspective and help them succeed in the global marketplace.
